Not ideal for

  • Academics who need peer-reviewed literature databases
  • Users wanting a single-purpose, minimal search engine

  • Deep research and X research tasks
  • LiveDoc multi-agent document workspace

  • Search-to-slides flow shortens report preparation

Cons

  • Feature list sprawls into media generation that dilutes the research focus
  • Advanced models and workspace tools are locked behind Pro
  • Answer quality varies with source availability in less common languages

ToolifyNav verdict

Cross-language search is the reason to try Felo, and it is genuinely useful for anyone whose best sources are not in their working language. The step from answer to slides or a LiveDoc report is the other draw, saving the copy-and-paste stage between research and deliverable. Its expansion into video and image generation makes the product feel less focused than dedicated answer engines, and serious academic work still needs scholarly databases. For students, analysts and writers working across Japanese, Chinese and English sources especially, the free tier is worth adopting and Pro is reasonably priced.

About

About Felo

Felo is an AI answer engine founded in Tokyo in 2024 that has grown into a broader research-and-creation workspace. At its core is search: you ask a question in any of many languages and Felo returns a synthesized answer drawn from web sources, with a traditional-search fallback for when you just want links. Free users get unlimited standard searches plus a handful of "professional" searches and file analyses each day.

Paid users unlock deep research tasks, X (Twitter) research, custom agents and a choice of frontier models from several vendors. The creation side has expanded rapidly. LiveDoc, launched in October 2025, is a document workspace where multiple AI agents research, draft and assemble deliverables together. Felo can also produce AI slides from a topic or search result, generate images and short videos, design simple graphics and webpages, and capture voice notes. An LLM playground and an OpenAI-style API give developers access to the same model lineup.

Felo leans on its multilingual strength, which suits cross-language research in Japan and across Asia: ask in Japanese, read English sources, and get a summary back in Japanese. Its pricing is credit-based, with a single Pro subscription covering the full model menu and a falling-back allowance of daily Pro searches after credits run out.
