ToolifyNav verdict
ShortTranscript does one job, getting the spoken words out of a TikTok or Reel, and does it with fewer hoops than most: no account, no download, and a timestamped editor that keeps timings intact while you fix names. Working from the audio track means clips without captions are covered, and failed jobs cost nothing. The limits are real, though. Only English is verified, free clips stop at 5 minutes, and subtitle formats sit behind credits. Creators who need SRT files for their own clips, or researchers quoting short videos, should start with the free daily allowance and buy the $4.99 pack only if they hit the cap.
About
About ShortTranscript
ShortTranscript is a single-purpose transcriber for short-form social video. You paste a public TikTok or Instagram Reels share link, or upload an MP3, MP4, WAV or M4A file you are allowed to use, and the service checks the duration and shows your free allowance or credit quote before it starts. Speech recognition runs on the audio track rather than the captions, so clips without captions still work, and silent or music-only clips are rejected without a charge.
Results come back as timestamped segments that you can edit one at a time without shifting the timings, then copy or save as TXT for free. SRT, VTT and DOCX exports need credits: one credit upgrades a free transcript, and paid jobs include every format. Signed-in users can batch up to 20 links, and each task is tracked and charged separately, so one failure does not affect the rest.
The free tier gives 3 successful transcripts per day (reset at 00:00 UTC), each up to 5 minutes, without an account; guest results stay in that browser for 7 days. Paid use is pay-as-you-go with no subscription: $4.99 for 150 credits or $19.99 for 800, one credit per started minute, up to 60 minutes and 100 MB per video, with credits valid for 12 months. English is the only verified language and there is no translation. The site says media is deleted within 24 hours and that the service is not affiliated with TikTok or Instagram.
