Adobe Firefly vs Recraft

Side-by-side notes for builders choosing between Adobe Firefly and Recraft. Prefer the tool that matches your job — not the louder brand.

Option A

Adobe Firefly

Generative fill and images inside Photoshop, Illustrator, and Express — the Adobe-shaped path.

Included with many Creative Cloud plans, plus generative credits

Best for

  • Deliverables already in Photoshop or Illustrator
  • Teams whose legal likes the Adobe story
  • Generative fill on a real composite

Strengths

  • Lives on the timeline you already use
  • Easier legal conversation than a random host

Trade-offs

  • Not the most interesting aesthetic default
  • Terms still need a human read

Verdict

Firefly is the generator for Adobe-native work. Midjourney is the aesthetic lab. Recraft is the shippable vector. Flux and Stable Diffusion are the API and open paths. Use Firefly when the next click is a Photoshop layer. Confirm the current generative credits and IP language on your SKU. Do not tell a client “Adobe said it’s fine” without opening the document. Stay in Firefly when the file never wants to leave Creative Cloud. Leave when the look you need is simply not in the model. Read the credit and IP PDF for this year’s SKU before a client review.

Option B

Recraft

Design-native image studio: photorealism, locked brand styles, and real SVG you can open in Figma.

Free tier; Pro and API for volume

Best for

  • Brand and product designers
  • Icon, logo, and mockup sets
  • People who need SVG, not only raster
  • Locked style across a batch

Strengths

  • The file can actually enter a design system
  • Consistency tools that match brand work

Trade-offs

  • Less “dreamy gallery” energy than Midjourney
  • Credits climb when you iterate like a moodboard

Verdict

Recraft is the listing to open when the question is “can I hand this to production?” not “is this the prettiest image of a cathedral?” Midjourney and Flux still win plenty of aesthetic races. Ideogram still wins long words painted into the scene. Firefly still wins if Adobe is the house toolchain and legal will not discuss anything else. Choose Recraft when the next destination is Figma, a printer, or a logo that must remain a vector. Confirm SVG quality on your actual mark — not the demo icons — before you retire the human illustrator on the account.
