Verdict

Linear is the issue tracker when the team already believes in cycles and owners. Taskade is not a substitute. Notion is not a substitute. Jira remains the path when the org needs ITSM and a vendor the auditors already know. Buy Linear for the tracker, not for the AI badge. Confirm GitHub/GitLab hooks and guest access before you migrate a quarter of tickets. If nobody will run triage, stay where you are — the software will not attend the meeting for you. Migrate one team, one cycle, with Git hooks on. If owners and cycle goals survive Friday, continue. If the board looks like a graveyard of untitled issues, stay on the old tracker until someone will run the meeting.

Taskade

Outlines and mind maps that become checklists, without Jira-weight ceremony.

Best for

• Small groups who outline before they execute
• Hybrid mind-map plus checklist cultures
• Projects that are not yet an engineering program

Strengths

• Low ceremony
• Matches how some teams actually start work

Trade-offs

• Will not grow into an issue tracker
• AI will not create owners

Verdict

Taskade is glue for early, outline-shaped work. Linear is the system when the work has dependencies and review. Motion and Reclaim are calendars, not this. Use Taskade while the project still fits in a map. The week you need an audit trail, move. Do not run both Taskade and Linear for the same tickets. Confirm export before you pour a quarter of notes into a format you cannot leave. Outline tools die when the only copy of the plan is trapped in a pretty map.
