Evaluate Flow as a Veo camera, not as a video suite. Runway and Kling will beat it on some styles and some lengths; they have had more time as dedicated labs. HeyGen still owns the trained-face talking head. CapCut still owns the Tuesday-afternoon recut. Flow belongs on a shortlist when the deliverable is a short generated shot with sound, and you already pay for (or can tolerate) Google’s credit system. Check the current Veo version and credit burn on a real prompt before you promise a campaign volume. If the next step is a 12-layer timeline, leave.

Flow is not a timeline editor and it is not an avatar studio. It is the place Google put Veo for people who want a shot — camera move, lighting, physics, sound already attached — from a text prompt or a still.
That “native audio” clause matters. A lot of 2024–2025 video models still handed you a silent clip and a separate soundtrack job. Flow’s pitch is that the take arrives as a small film fragment you can extend, not a silent loop you have to Foley later.
Quota and queues are part of the experience. So is the missing NLE. If the job is “cut this podcast for TikTok,” CapCut still wins. If the job is “make the spokesperson say these ten lines with our face,” HeyGen still wins. If the job is “I have a still and I want eight seconds that feel shot,” Flow is in the conversation with Runway, Kling, Luma, and Pika — and the reason to pick it is Veo’s look, not a unique editor.
Google account, Labs-shaped product, credits that disappear on a heavy afternoon. Treat it like a camera, not like Premiere.
