Livedocs is for the person whose “research” is last quarter’s facts in a warehouse, not a stack of PDFs. Julius is still simpler for a one-off spreadsheet. Tableau AI is still the better home if the deliverable is a governed dashboard someone else will open next month. Put Livedocs on the list when you want an agent to plan the query path against production-shaped data. Before you connect it, write down what it is allowed to read. The product is only as trustworthy as that decision. Keep Perplexity and NotebookLM for sources that are not your warehouse.

About Livedocs
Livedocs starts from a question, not a notebook cell. You point it at Postgres, BigQuery, or Snowflake, ask what happened to last week’s conversion, and it proposes the steps — explore, join, aggregate, chart — instead of waiting for you to remember the exact grain of the orders table.
That is a different job from Julius (upload a spreadsheet, chat) and a different job from Tableau (governed dashboards someone already modeled). It is also not Elicit. If the source of truth is a PDF corpus or a literature review, you are in the wrong product.
The failure mode is access. An agent that cannot see the warehouse is a toy. An agent that can see the warehouse without row-level discipline is a compliance incident. Livedocs only belongs in stacks where someone has already decided how credentials, PII, and write-back work.
When the source is the public web, stay in Perplexity. When the source is a pile of PDFs, stay in NotebookLM. When the source is production tables and the analyst is tired of a blinking cursor in a SQL tab, this is the lane.
