Wordtune Review: 3/5 — First Suggestion Said “Please Provide,” Not Status-Page Copy

I was already pasting a 51-word support paragraph into Wordtune before I bothered reading the pitch. The job was narrow: turn the trailing “I need a clearer status page sentence…” into something I could actually put on a status page for a recurring webhook timeout ticket. Not a blog rewrite. Not a synonym hunt. Just that sentence.

Email signup, then a blank editor

Anonymous editor access was a dead end. https://app.wordtune.com/editor bounced straight to Wordtune Workspace signup. Fine. Continue with Email, Hotmail review address, Continue. Magic link landed in the already-open Outlook inbox. The first click on the visible link text did nothing useful, so I opened the exact URL from the email in the browser. That signed me in. No password, no Google SSO, no card, no trial, no Cloudflare. Landed in a fresh /editor/write/... document.

Rewrite in two to three seconds

Exact before text:

Rewrite. Loading skeleton. Suggestions in roughly 2–3 seconds. The editor selected only the trailing “I need…” sentence — not the whole paragraph. Good instinct for a line-level tool.

The card had a few usable rows. One of them looked more status-page-ish (“My status page should state…”). I clicked the first row anyway, because that is what most people do when they are in a hurry.

Applied result:

“I need…” became “Please provide…”. Fluent. Also wrong for the job. It rephrased my request as an instruction to someone else instead of writing the status-page sentence I asked for. Fast alternatives, yes. Finished customer copy on first click, no. I would want a second pass before shipping that line.

Formal cleaned the grammar, not the intent

Formal. Another ~2–3 seconds with a loading skeleton. First Formal row applied:

Cleaner. More formal. Still an instruction — “Provide a clearer status page sentence…” — not a banner customers can read. Tone worked mechanically. It did not fix the mismatch.

Proofread on the right also showed “clearer → clear” and later “chat → Chat”. I left those alone. I also skipped Casual, Shorten, Expand, Synonyms, Ask AI, Enrich, the extension, and anything mobile. This run stayed on Rewrite → first row → Formal → first row.

Upsell copy was everywhere I looked: “Experience Wordtune Premium — start your free 3-day trial now. Start trial,” “Unlock All,” “Start a Free Trial.” I did not start a trial. I clicked Unlock All to read the yearly view (Pay yearly (-50%) / Pay monthly):

I didn't burn the Free meter to zero. The counter and CTAs still make the daily cap feel close early.

If you already know the sentence and want quick alternate phrasings inside an editor, Wordtune is usable on Free. Suggestions arrive fast, the inline card is easy to scan, and Formal actually changes the register. If you are hoping the first Rewrite click will invent finished status-page copy from a hybrid “here’s the problem / I need a sentence” paragraph, this session did not deliver that. Review the rows. The better status-page-ish option was visible; I just happened to click the instruction-like one first.

No publishing from Wordtune in this run. No paid-plan behavior beyond the modal. For line-level rewrites with a tight daily Free meter, this is a 3.
