Verdict

Notion AI is an amplifier of the workspace you have, including the ugly parts. ChatGPT and Claude remain better for long outside documents. Superhuman remains better for inbox. Typeahead remains better for local caret completion. Turn it on after teamspaces and guest rules are boringly correct. If you cannot explain who can see a page, you are not ready for a button that summarizes it. Confirm which AI features your plan actually includes — marketing pages and the seat you bought still drift.

Low-friction meeting transcripts, speakers, and summaries for classes, standups, and interviews.

Best for

• Students and small teams who just need the words
• Standups and interviews with low ceremony
• People who will export the same day

Strengths

• Almost no rollout drama
• Good enough notes on day one

Trade-offs

• Archive rot if you never export
• Not a media editor

Verdict

Otter is the default when the job is “we talked, I need the text.” Fireflies is the default when the job is “search six months of deals.” Descript is the default when the job is “cut this podcast.” Adopt Otter with one rule written in the team doc: decisions leave Otter the same day. If you will not follow that rule, the cheaper product is a shared Google Doc and a human note-taker. Check recording consent against your school or employer before you let it join every call.
