Zapier Central is a front-end for Zapier, not a replacement for thinking about volume. n8n still wins residency and code. Make still wins certain visual brains. Use Central to draft, then open the Zap and add the failure path a sentence cannot see. Confirm task math on a real event sample. If the company is not already in Zapier, do not start here — start with whether you want that catalog at all. Central will not make a bad automation cheaper. It will only make it faster to create.

About Zapier Central
Zapier Central is not a new automation religion. It is a way to talk to the catalog finance already pays for. You describe the Zap in sentences because the connectors are the reason the contract exists.
Cost discipline comes first. High-frequency events plus a sloppy filter is how a “harmless” webhook becomes an invoice. Prototype on low volume. Read the task estimate. Then let Central get clever.
n8n is the path when you need to host it, inspect it, or write code nodes. Make is the path when the picture of the branch is the interface. Zapier remains the path when the org already lives in that admin and the next connector is already there.
Natural language will not design your failure path. Dead-letter, schema checks, and a human on-call still have to be specified, in English or in nodes. If you cannot name the failure path, you are not ready to turn the Zap on.
