Cleanup.pictures Review: Fast Inpainting Behind a 720p Gate (4/5)
Cleanup.pictures let me wipe SAMPLE WATERMARK, FOR SALE — DEMO, and REMOVE ME off a watch photo in about six seconds of server time — then handed back a 720×523 free download with the HD gate spelled out up front.
Best for
- Product and real-estate shooters scrubbing text, watermarks, or clutter in-browser
- Marketers who need a fast free erase for web thumbs and messaging mockups
- Anyone okay with a 720p free export and a clear $5/mo HD upgrade
Not ideal for
- Client deliverables that must keep original megapixel resolution on free
- Teams needing ClipDrop suite tools (uncrop, generative fill) in one free pass — not tested here
- Legal watermark removal on images you do not license
Evaluation
What to know
Key features
- Brush-based AI object, person, and text removal
- Free tier with ~720p export limits
- Pro full-resolution exports around $5/mo or $36/yr
- Use cases for photo, real estate, and e-commerce
- Developer inpainting API with docs and samples
Pros
- Anonymous free erase works — no card, no signup required to download
- ~1.8–2.0s per brush stroke; successive erases on the same canvas without paywall
- HD→SD gate is upfront and honest (720×523 free vs 1200×872 Pro)
- Passwordless magic-link signup works (Junk folder); Pro pricing clearly listed at $5/mo or $36/yr
Cons
- Free hard-caps exports at ~720p — 1200×872 uploads forced to downscale before editing
- Magic-link email landed in Outlook Junk
- Full-res / high-quality refiner locked behind Cleanup Pro or ClipDrop Pro
- Not a full generative editor — single-purpose inpainting only
ToolifyNav verdict
Hands-on (Sep 29, 2026): Anonymous brush erase on a cluttered watch photo in ~2s per stroke, honest 720p free gate (720×523 download), magic link via Junk, Pro at $5/mo or $36/yr. 4/5. Full review: https://toolifynav.com/blog/cleanup-pictures-review
About
About Cleanup.pictures
Cleanup.pictures is a focused AI inpainting web app for removing unwanted objects, people, text, logos, watermarks, cracks, and other defects from photographs. Upload an image, brush over the distraction, and the model reconstructs the background — a simpler path than clone-stamping in Photoshop for real-estate, e-commerce, and portrait cleanup jobs. The marketing site emphasizes photographers, agencies, real-estate agents, and online sellers as primary users, with an API for developers embedding inpainting.
Pricing is straightforward freemium: free unlimited images exported at up to roughly 720px resolution; Pro about $5 per month or $36 per year for full-resolution exports and higher-quality refining. A trial lets users test HD before committing. Subscriptions are individual seats; refunds are limited after activation. The same company ecosystem points to ClipDrop for background removal, keeping Cleanup specialized on object erasure rather than becoming a full editor.
Versus generative art studios, Cleanup is utilitarian. Versus Magnific-style upscalers, it solves a different pain. That specialization makes it a clean Image-category listing for ToolifyNav readers who need retouch speed, not prompt poetry.
