ChatGPT remains the default general assistant because the interface is familiar and the quality floor is high. It is the wrong default for a systematic review (Elicit), a cited news brief you will not verify (still verify, or use Perplexity and then verify), or a multi-file refactor (Cursor, Claude Code). Claude is still the comparison for long, careful documents. Gemini is still the comparison when the work already lives in Google. Grok is still the comparison when you want xAI’s voice and X-shaped context. Pick ChatGPT as the hub, write down what must never be pasted into it, and buy the workspace tier if the hub is going to see company material.

Pair with ChatGPT for generation and DeepL for translation. Confirm admin if you need it. If the team writes in one app with its own checker, do not stack nags without a reason.
